The Huntsman

saw Snow White and the Huntsman recently.  Couldnt resist and had to make the awesome drunkard the Huntsman. lucky for me, the resemblance is striking as the Huntsman's actor is non other then Thor from the Avengers. Max knife count is two instead of 3-4 like in the movie.

i tried to make snow white with a paler skinned minifig part, but that only made her look like a mini zombie instead. so thats that.

Hulk SMASH! (Loki)

yes, i saw the avengers movie and decided to build this.

i wanted to build the scene, but i did not want to be just some hole that fits any minifig. i built this to accommodate Loki's oddly shaped helmet.  The platform has connecting studs in the back to add on any buildings or backdrops as needed. the structure, unseen in these pictures, actually has an uneven tiled floor with leveling edges. it was probably one of the better things i had ever build aside from custom minifigs.

The hole that held Loki is actually closable with the movement and help of a few hinged pieces that swing   out and then slide perfectly in place concealing the spot for pre-smashing scenery.  i had never thought about using the tiles that much, but i can now see that it brings a cleaner look to MOCs.

LOTR & Monster Fighter release

i was thinking that it would be a June release.... but Lord of the Rings Lego and my highly anticipated Monster Fighter sets are out in stores already. i was just going to the store for more of the series 7, and on the end cap, right under the avenger sets....was all....this.....

i'm most likely going to wait a little bit before i buy anything. the prices at the store here is marked up 12-25% then retail.  i'm not that desperate to grab the new sets...but wow so many zombies. i may pick up some LOTR sets afterall.... now why did i even bother picking up those dinosaur jurassic park sets?

That ghost train doesnt look like it can accommodate an engine much less look wide enough for a train track. i didnt want the castle before... but those bat creatures look promising. i know i will pick up a merman set when the time comes.

Real BALANCED Cheer Pyramid!

I've been wanting to do a pyramid of cheerleaders for a while now. but i didnt want all the girls to look the same. so i waited until i had enough heads and hairstyles to make a cheerleader troupe. The group currently has 17 members. (some of them were made after girls i knew that looked like them, and did dance/cheer. LoL) a few of them, such as Megan and Erika were in "Black STEEL." Pepper, Ava, Dani, and a few others were in an unfinished, so therefore unreleased film. and then.... a couple of them spent spring break in Rio hanging out with Arthur Curry.

This was no easy task as when i stacked these girls, i didnt use the hand that fits into bottom of the foot method, anyone can do that. i balanced them that would demand what these girls were.

CHEERLEADERS. they are acrobats that can form feats using balance, agility, and strength.

the first row was obviously easy. and they had to be positioned so that they would support the full balance of the girls above them. the second row was also simple, but the third proved to be somewhat a challenge. the girl on the left was easy, and stayed put, but the girl on the right, had to be positioned tactfully, to ensure that the last girl on top would not topple. (i appreciate cheerleaders even more now, as if these were real girls, i can almost hear them crying as they fell from the top repeatedly. yikes!)

there were two different times, where i was not satisfied with what i had. one, was the top girl was standing ontop of the other two girl's heads. balanced, but not realistic... second, i had it the way i thought i wanted, but having the top girl standing on top didnt do it for me... finally, i decided that i wanted the two girls near the top to hold the top girl in a "leg up" position, which i liked the most.

214 tries, 26 photos, several dis-encouragers, and nearly 5 hours later.... i was able to make this balanced pyramid.

Mighty Thor

haha...^_^  yep, i'm having fun with my Thor minifig. I'm working on a few pics, which is taking a break on working on the films. i think i had a specific deadline in mind, but with the rate things are going with production... i dont think my 6 month release date will be made at all. i'm hoping that it won't become a hiatus... because those aren't good at all. =(

He's the movie Thor, but if i know my marvel comics...Thor had a viking helmet on. (i have two that fits... now which one shall i place on mine is the question...)

Lego Maleficent

Grand opening of one of the 3 local Lego stores finally finishing their remodeling.

i'm wondering if that this is permanent or just a temporarily display. i'm thinking of the local birds perching themselves onto the dragon from sleeping beauty's wings and laying their wastes onto its now dark but soon white gooped body.

i havent been inside yet.... but there seems to be an impossible wall of pick a brick, thats pretty cool as the selection at this location was fairly lacking before. however, i am thinking that only the first 8 of so levels of bricks will be for sale. i highly doubt that the old fashioned library sliding ladder is for patrons usage.

The black dragon seems at home with the current dark sky.  i've got my fill of series 7 as well.  i wonder what series 8 will have to come.

Summer Releases '12

Aw shoot! its official! these sets are coming out for the summer! even if i pick up the ghost train and the jabba's palace, i wont get to build them till later.

summer...is for being outdoors this year, and maybe do a lil traveling. i will however still fit some Lego related things in there. i dont like gungans. so that gungan sub isnt something that i would pick up. but the queen amidala figure makes it worth the buy. i may just very well pick it off from BL instead. save me the trouble of paying more then i actually want to for my minifig army.

This year... i will try to finish more films, i have a few in the works, but i keep running into snags in the production. one of them i should have finished last year...but didnt, because coordinating with other people for sound and voice recordings....wasnt easy to say the least. everyone is busy with their lives, and i can't blame them. aside from finishing up that video, i have 2-3 in the works. whether i finish them at all, or get them off the ground to make interesting will it then be brought to youtube. (one of them actually needs to be shot done in a specific place...and being rather busy with other things... and again coordination... has made it rough.)

i'm also actually going to put a production team logo in front of my newer films. which would feel more fresh. (but not so much the one that i should have finished last year.)

Star Wars Summer Sets

There's been such a HUGE amount of infomation going on with new sets to come and i haven't had the time to go and just write about the new stuff i'm anticipating... i wonder if there's an app for blogging...

so finally, there's going to be another twilek besides aayla. its the slave dancer in jabba's palace this time. i've had two of the twileks in my jabba's barge set as it is. a green one and a white one. now this scared one here is scared, mostly because she's not comfortable with so many younger kids playing with her. (well, the fanboys will have something to play with as well...)

Colorful Wildlife

Thats nifty! makes me want to make a bunch of these and put them at the local tide pools, so that we can have a more colorful, art exhibit by the sea. i'm sure it would cost a bundle, and the wild life activists would come to my house... so no. i won't. but so cool. =D

Taxes.... no $$$ for new sets...-_- (avengers & s7s)

these guys are out! its a bit steep for what i'm getting... and wolverine is a nice addition to have. altho, i am ecstatic about having a deadpool and a magneto figure soon....hmmm wonder which set will have the black widow figure? (they are currently showing three sets, one with steve rogers, one with logan, wade, and erick, and one with hulk, hawkeye (?), and loki) i'm noting that they have not brought any mention of the sets that will contain tony, sasha, and dr blake)


lastly, i got this in an email. i dont know if thats alot of sets sold or not, mostly because my own pile from that year alone towers over 24 ft high easily. and the local LS sells ALOT of Lego sets. easily 600k-2 million worth in a month. are they referring to my LLS or statewide, or nationwide, or worldwide or what? where do they get these statistics from?

(as mentioned... series 7 is out. i'm not going to rush. i'm going to wait a month before i pick mine up this time around.)

these figs however, are NOT a joke, and are coming soon to a toys store, target, or Lego store near you. there's alot of chatter about how iron man's helmet is too big for him, but how else would TLG be able to make a moving visor for tony stark? if the helmet is made to show his face... why isnt there a suit for him to remove, and why is steve roger's mask stuck to his face? where are the trademark ears on the side of his head? side note... black window... that hairpiece looks like the new standard for all the pretty ladies (eg serena, hawaiian girl, and dr. pamela lillian Isley).

series 7. nice.

and they are out already? i had barely finished my fix of series 6...

almost every figure has a large piece in it, so that they can no longer be felt like the minotaur in the last series or radioactive suit guy. the sea king has no feet, and a triton, the lil red riding hood has tiny feet. i dont recall enjoying any of the minifigs with short feet. this one i DO like. the bagpipes are the most interesting hand held accessory to date, and to hold it in likable varies positions, the hands must be turned around several times.

and just like the pot of gold guy from last series was perfect for st patty's day... there's a bunny suit guy ready for easter... he reminds me of the winnie the pooh keychains they have in the slotted machines at the japanese supermarkets. i'm already ready to paint one grey... and add some ninjago items on it ...so to speak. =D

Still kickin' + series 6 guide

kind of, but didnt drop off the map. i've been busy... but still doing the Lego thing. now old news...but aside from the LOTR sets to come, TLG has also decided to come out with avengers and such sets. here is the link for good pics of the marvel minifigs. i'm glad to say that they do have a black widow minifig...but she comes with the blackbird. yet another aircraft i dont need in my collection. hope it has some cool stuff that makes it worthwhile as my favorite spacecrafts so far ( slave 1, M. falcon, agents copter (8971) ).

series 6 minifigs.. too many have i picked up already. and yet i still need more! hee hee hee! =D
here's my way of "feeling the packages" to know whats what.

ALIEN- his head is pear shaped, there is a rod as well
HIGHLANDER- has a round shield, but usually i feel the tobogan shaped hairpiece
SLEEPY- the bear doesnt seem like a bear, but more like a chest piece. his hair is prickly
LIBERTY STATUE- blocky feet, telescope, and hairpiece is bendy
BANDIT- fedora, his bandana is unique in this series
FLAMENCO DANCER- block feet as well, hair piece similar to ice skater in series 4
ROBOT- box for head
MINOTAUR- largest one piece for the torso/head combo. easy as finding radioactive guy in series 4
POT OF GOLD SHORTY- short feet. top hat. the pot of gold feels like an acorn
ROMAN- square ish shield, bendy spear, gap in helmet
SURGEON- shower cap feels like a ridged bowl, square 2x2 smooth piece
PUNK SKATER- large board with curved edges
PINK RANGER- helmet with sinkable gap, hair piece just like aerobic dancer in series 5
BUTCHER- has cap like the guys at in n out. hard to miss steak with bone nubs on one end
MECHANIC- tool box, wrench has a gap where it can click onto other poles
GENIE- unique legs piece. turban is a bubble with a notch in it.

mid to late 2012 sets

they're making a jabba's palace! but not out until christmas this year. =[ it will come with ten minifigs, a more detailed multi-colored jabba, and have a new twilek (aside from ayla).



new monster fighters minifigs! i like the swamp monster. the rest are very normal as Lego minifigs go. crossbows on hunters, and the monsters are mummies, ghosts (new blanket), vampires (and vampresses), werewolf, and frankensteins. no zombies to be seen tho, i could use some more of those. there will be a ghost train...i wonder if that can be modified and made space to run on tracks? the count's castle will have spiral staircase and even a trapdoor that opens onto a pit of spikes.



new ninjago sets... i see an airship, a samurai mech, and even a 4 headed dragon. i didnt like the early ninjago sets...but they seem to have gotten better over time. i will pick up a mecha samurai suit to battle lex luther in his power suit. =]

Even More lil Pea-ple

ooooo. caught sight of the whole LOTR minifigs. i wasn't expecting it, but besides frodo and sam, the two brothers will be made in minifig form. funny how the dwarf is pretty much the same size as the halflings. and there's aragon, gandalf, lego-las, and the other kind guy. still hoping for ring wraiths. c'mon Lego, you had dementors in Harry Potter, how about some ring wraiths for Lord of The Rings, hmmmm?



I'm also starting to understand why TLG has made minifig series. i am seeing the trend here for some time, and this confirms it. they are merely testing the waters, to see what people like. they are coming out with a "monster hunter" series of some sort. they will feature a werewolf (similar to the early movie set years ago), a vampire (also from the movie set...but with the minifig CMF torso), and a frankenstein. i have noticed the lego on the fig on the right side. beats the cyborg's leg from earlier sets.


on a side note, does Lego have their eyes on me or what? i also have a team of paranormal chasers/demon hunters group. here clearly in my team, i have a person that lost an arm, but in its place not only a mechanical arm, but with armaments as well on that arm. i hate how groups always have some new girl that gets added to the group because the last girl was eaten by some monster or had an "incident." my girl is a survivor, and a mechanic. strangely enough, note the clothing selection, a vest over a normal apparel. then i got my basic old fashioned slayer, and ....i'm not showing what my third and forth guys look like. because anybody that reads and/or loves this stuff knows...one member of the team isnt always what he appears to be. he isn't human.

Gilbert Almost Gets Shot

So a amusing thing happened to a guy i talk to every now and then. we'll refer him to Gilbert.

First off, he's Chinese. and it just happened that the Chinese New Year was this weekend, altho from what i understand, this holiday lasts for about ten days.

So Gilbert decides to surprise his parents this weekend, he's trying to be independent, and rarely comes back home. so that day when he got back to his parents house, he was surprised that nobody was home. so he was like ok... and decided to go inside the house. Only once Gil was inside, he found out that security system won't accept his password, so of course the security company calls and asks for the secret code. he doesnt know it that neither, so the dispatcher said that they were going to send a cop to his house, and he was like "ok.... i'll wait in front of the house." "yeah, you do that," said the dispatcher.

So when the cop pulled up in front of his house ten minutes later, Gilbert was standing out front, and was playing with the dog to pass the time. he was making light of the situation because he was thinking he wasnt guilty of any crime, which he wasnt. then he sees the officer get out. it was a small young and pretty officer. he wasnt fazed. he was like, "oh, thats cute."

And then she started to ask him questions about why he was there. he casually explained that it was his parents house and he didnt know that they had changed the password. the officer wasn't moved. "how do i know if you aren't lying, and your 4 buddies are cleaning out the house right now?," she said.

At this point, he had to think what to say to the officer, so he was being thoughtful and put his hands in his pockets, and the COP PULLED HER GUN ON HIM. "HANDS WHERE I CAN SEE THEM!!" she said nervously, "and put away YOUR DOG!" it was about this time he realized that his tone of voice was too casual and he had to slowly pull out his wallet to show her that his address matched the house. She told him that he was an idiot for not knowing the password.

Dangers to Customizing

I wasn't all that stoked about customizing figures in general to begin with. mostly because it veered off into a different kind of Lego hobby, and the fact a customized minifig parts can never really be recycled to make something new again. So today i went off again in an attempt to make my own minifigs. i soon found out that not all paints were safe for painting or coloring minifigs.

i thought at first that i had an inferior or old lego piece, but as it turned out after my second try on a newer piece and some examination....that some of the paints out there, hobby paints at that.. combust and eat their way through the Lego plastics...yuck.

Marvel Minifigs + LOTR

i have been seeing lots of pictures on google lately with the upcoming sets. The batman sets weren't as great as i had hoped for, and was centered mostly around the figures itself. They seemed like glorified minifigs with some accessories. with that said, the batcave is pretty nice afterall compared to the other larger sets. can't beat the smaller sets.

The marvel sets.... i wonder what kind of sets will be surrounding them. i'm guessing that capt america will have a jeep, if he had that lab where he transformed it would be rad. it'd come with minifigs like before and after, the girl, and howard stark. =]
The hulk... he has the ogre mold. so his feet can't move. not that he would really need to anyways, as he goes "hulk smash!" and thrusts his arms into the ground. Other then marvel vs capcom, the hulk doesnt really kick. He doesn't "walk" neither, he just jumps several miles at a time. so that works out.
i can't tell if wolverine's hands are just claws and if they can hold items. so far, my own wolverine has the similar hair piece, a head from the power miners set, a bomber jacket and the claws from the prince of persia set in his hands. will he be the only xmen released? cool to have a gambit, jean grey (or dark phoenix), cable, beast, and professor X (ok that dopey cyclops too maybe, but we know TLG will make him with no unique pieces, just slap on some old ice planet pieces and a new torso).
Hoping the figs from SDCC are real as well. still waiting for thor. iron man looks silly. looks like they arent going to make a Mark IV edition (circle on chest). Complete the avengers... bring in black widow! (woohoo a scarlett johansson minifig! LOL.) and maybe a slightly larger minifig. flashlight sized. The ant man.



LOTR minifigs.... since its in the realm of fantasy, i'm having high hopes for the sets. hobbit huts, castles, mage towers, and walking trees. But hopefully these sets aren't here to replace the medieval and castle themes. don't get me wrong, i love the POTC sets...but don't like them replacing the classic pirates theme.

was at the LTS, on acct of an ugly doll sale (half off everything!) and noticed that they had half a dozen series six minifigs.

so i bought them up, and the internet must be wrong, or i'm just lucky, but i was able to pick us these guys, and a few more including one roman centurion, which i heard was the most sought after of this series.

i really like the sleepy guy. but i noted that the teddy bear's nuzzle's paint is flakey. quality control? on a side note, the hands on the bandit aren't as grippy. i dont hear the sNap when i put his guns in his hands and they come off pretty easily.

"BATMAN!!! how dare you share my unique piece," screams Ja-Kal

noting the subtle differences in the new and younger catwoman figures.

the ears of the mask are differently sized and differently angled. the mask also seems to be thinner and more full covering then the previous one. The newer catwoman's head also seems less mature and more in a comical style.

The torso... i have found besides the different belt and zipper, the new catwoman has "curves" to make her look more sexy. but in my opinion, the younger one is more sexy with the shading under the bosom to give it more depth, compared to the flatness appearance of the newer fig.


the new blue batman comes with a different wing/cape piece. what i dont understand is why batman even needs a rocket pack on his glider. i mean come on! he's BATMAN!

The differences of the new and the old one is the obvious belt. and the bat emblem, the old one doesnt have the yellow oval around it that supposively draws fire to it, as it has an armor plating under it. The back of the torso is different. and sorry flying mummy Ja Kal, the wing is very similar except for one tiny detail. studs. batman's wings has two studs on back. so that if Robin wanted to surf Batman as he glided down. He could.

Outdoor Rollin'

this here's a nice outdoors, Lego truck in the real world pic. up until my recent off road adventure, i had thought trucks would roll over large rocks easily. not so, as a rock too large would mean disaster for the tires. a punctured wheel in the middle of nowhere was no fun...

meanwhile, i'm having fun with my troopers. not only have i made them stand in fun lil places with backdrops, i have started to make little wordings and stories to go with them. they are no longer, one picture one story.

The clothing aside from mikekoba, dont match, as the figs are from our everyday wardrobe and when we go in normal adventures. MikeKoba wears the same jacket however in this photo.

as with all our travels, mikeKoba likes to walk a lil ways behind us and take snapshots. and funny thing is...kayyyyy always blazes ahead, with Stev close behind. i walk a lil midways, as i stop to take my minifig pics and try to keep up. and mikey.... we know what he likes to do.

as we go on our hike, pink rocks and other shades adorn the desert floor. Kayyyyy poses ontop boulders....and next to more irregular colored rocks.

after nearly 27 miles of off road bumping along, the crew stops to inspect the cleanness of the SUV

Troopers Moving Across the Desert

Gosh! i really like making clone troopers moving across the desert floor. i dont often get the chance to actually have the background to place them in this environment.
